Energy Centres
Chakra Balancing & Massage
The body's seven energy centres — from root to crown — each govern an aspect of physical and emotional life. When one is blocked or overactive, it shows: in tension, restlessness, low energy, or a mind that won't settle. Chakra balancing works directly with these centres to restore natural energy flow.
The seven chakras
The chakra system maps seven energy centres along the spine, each governing an aspect of physical and emotional life:
- Root chakra — base of the spine. Safety, security, groundedness. Blocked: anxiety, restlessness, feeling untethered.
- Sacral chakra — below the navel. Creativity, pleasure, emotional flow. Blocked: numbness, creative flatness, guilt.
- Solar plexus chakra — upper abdomen. Will, confidence, personal power. Blocked: indecision, low self-worth, control struggles.
- Heart chakra — centre of the chest. Love, grief, compassion, connection. Blocked: isolation, held grief, difficulty receiving.
- Throat chakra — the throat. Expression, truth, being heard. Blocked: swallowed words, tight jaw and shoulders.
- Third eye chakra — between the brows. Intuition, clarity, imagination. Blocked: overthinking, fog, disconnection from inner knowing.
- Crown chakra — top of the head. Meaning, spirit, connection to something larger. Blocked: cynicism, purposelessness.
Chakra imbalance — what it feels like
Energy centres rarely announce themselves. An imbalance tends to show up sideways: a mind that won’t settle, low energy that sleep doesn’t fix, tension that always returns to the same place, or a life theme — money, voice, love — that keeps snagging. Chakra work starts from these signals and follows them back to the centre involved.
What happens in a session
A session opens with conversation about what’s present for you. You then lie fully clothed on the treatment table while Zeita works through the seven centres in turn — sensing where energy is blocked, sluggish or overactive — and dwells where attention is needed.
Chakra balancing is energy work: light touch or hovering hands, similar to Reiki. Chakra massage adds hands-on bodywork around the regions associated with each centre — shoulders and jaw for the throat, chest and upper back for the heart, sacrum and hips for the root and sacral centres. Most sessions blend both, and the session closes with time to surface and talk through what arose.
Chakras, Reiki and color
Chakra balancing rarely works alone. It sits in a natural triangle with Reiki healing, which moves energy through the whole system, and color therapy, which works with the specific colour frequency each centre responds to — red at the root through violet at the crown. Sessions often borrow from all three.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between chakra balancing and chakra massage?
Chakra balancing is energy work — light touch or hovering hands over each centre, much like Reiki. Chakra massage adds hands-on bodywork around the areas associated with each chakra. Most sessions blend the two.
How do I know if a chakra is blocked?
Common signs include persistent tension in one area of the body, feeling stuck around a particular theme — security, creativity, confidence, grief, expression — or simply feeling flat and out of balance. The session itself is often the clearest diagnostic.
How long is a chakra balancing session?
Around 60 to 75 minutes, including conversation before and after. Deeper work on one or two centres fits comfortably in that time.
Can chakra balancing be combined with Reiki?
Yes — they are natural companions. Reiki moves through the whole energy system while chakra balancing dwells on specific centres. Many clients alternate between the two or combine them in one session.
